About Us
The add*ed Research Group at Queen's University is dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and community engagement in special and inclusive education. Our work focuses on enhancing support for students with autism and other developmental disabilities by equipping educators, schools, and school boards with the knowledge and tools to foster both academic and social growth.
We lead initiatives that bridge research and practice through:
- Collaborations with educators, fostering partnerships and providing expert consultation.
- Practical research translation, ensuring findings inform real-world teaching strategies.
- Pre-service and in-service training, strengthening educator capacity at all levels.
- Leadership development, training master’s and doctoral students to become future leaders in research, policy, and inclusive education.
- Applied research on effective teaching practices, driving meaningful change in classrooms.
add*ed is house within the Faculty of Education at Queen's University and headed by associate professor of special education, Dr. Jordan Shurr. Group members include former teachers and current students with a focus on special and inclusive education in both graduate and undergraduate programs at Queen's. Our work is focused on cutting edge research and practice in the field of special and inclusive education for students with autism and other developmental disabilities as well as deep engagement and meaningful collaboration with school personnel.
